We are proud to congratulate two Canton United girls players on their huge weekend in Kansas City. Lauryn Contini (2006) and Hannah Pachan (2007) after winning the Great Lakes Regionals, headed out to Kansas City where they proceeded to win 5 consecutive elimination games against teams from various states to win the US Youth Futsal NATIONAL Championship!
The girls represented Canton United on the Heart and Sole Futsal team which features selected players from various clubs during these events and are a great example for our players to see how exposure to futsal at a young age can positively impact skill development in addition to their club training. Players like Lauryn and Hannah are one of the reasons Canton United issued the youth mandate for futsal games during the winter months for our youngest players 12 and below. We continue to support our players gaining this exposure through the sport, and to develop our relationship with Great Lakes Futsal.
Club Director of Coaching Damien Marchione stated: "Both of these girls are extremely talented and motivated to be top level players and have been fully committed to the program since they were 8 years old. On top of regular team training they do the additional skill clinics that are offered through the club, pursue extra developmental opportunities and exposure through futsal, and are always looking for ways to get better. Most importantly, you can see they truly love training and being pushed and challenged. They are still very young but there is great potential for these girls to play at a very high level if they stay driven to succeed."
Both girls play up on the U13 Girls MRL team despite their age and consistently impress coaches with their advanced technical abilities. Keep an eye out for them at the next club footskill session!
Congratulations again to these two girls on this great accomplishment and many more to come in the future!
